The, soon to be launched, Arran Arts Heritage Trail has been running a wonderful competition for all the primary schools.
The brief was to paint or draw an image after studying the paintings of the 20 famous artists who are featured on the new marker stones placed around the island.
The children approached the competition with gusto and 200 entries were received. The quality is so high that choosing two winners was impossible. The organisers have therefore decided to award two joint winners in each category,
The names of the four winners are:
From Primary 1-3, the joint first prize winners are:
Allaigh Lambie P1, Corrie Primary - inspired by the "big tree and the beach Corrie"
Louise P3, Pirnmill Primary - inspired by " Coire Fhionn Lochan"
From Primary 4-7 the joint first prize winners are:
Harris McCormack P6 Brodick Primary - with a painting of Goatfell
Sonny Boxall P7 Whiting Bay - with an unusual painting of Holy Isle
A huge congratulations to you all; really well done.
The winners' paintings are to be projected onto the walls of Brodick Castle this Friday evening, 16th of April, joining the 20 famous images of Arran, illustrating the Arran Arts Heritage Trail which will launch with a major symposium on April 29th.
As this is the very first time projections onto the Castle have been allowed by The National Trust, The Arran Arts Heritage Trail organisers have decided to project a collage of the remaining 196 paintings that the children entered, so that they may all take part in this unique event and have a special memory of the evening.
Each winner will also receive a £25 voucher for art materials and another £25 worth of art materials for their class.
